Fuel Mileage ?s

What kind of fuel mileage are you getting, with your V 10, 7.3L PSD, and or the 6.0L PSD?
Thanks Stampede.

We get 15-16 commuting.

We took a trip from Houston to Jacksonville and got over 20 mpg. I took a trip to Colorado in October. 3 guys, 7 rifles, trailer, Polaris 4 wheeler, large BBQ and some assorted gear. 2300 miles round trip through the mountains of Colorado and through the panhandle of Texas...13.7 mpg. We weren't babying it either...75-80 mph with the trailer.

I have the V-10 and just did a round trip from Maine to Sumter, SC

I got about 14 mpg on the trip down.. doing 75. One tank of fuel from Maine to DC and second tank to get to Sumter with a side trip to Raleigh.

I got 10 coming back pulling an empty 12K dump trailer (empty weight about 2600).

Given why I bought the X... I'm happy with the mileage.

Thumbs up

Longest trip was 600+ miles round-tip. We averaged 17.5, which includes about 70 miles of city driving and idling for about 2 hours while trying to re-enter states. Usual long-distance trips are 120 miles and on those we average 19-21 doing 70-80mph.

Go to this thread, read completely…. and post. Follow, on page 3..MLF250’s format, it is good…and easy!
Important update to instructions on page 6, 17 posts down from the top of page.

ODOMETER reading at time of problem is critical.
In addition, please read more instructions, bottom of first page, posted by Tim L
Tell as many as you can about this thread.
The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

Thanks

Gents,

I read more about fuel mileage than basically any other subject on these forums.

I find it funny where we have the LARGEST SUV's known to man and we hem an haw about fuel economy!

When we bought the HULK we were more concerned about the warrenty and the outstanding reputation that Ford has for their products, right?

Well fuel economy was a factor, that's we choose Diesel over Gas.

We all know the Diesel monster is the best for what it is but be real. That engine needs to propell 9300lbs lbs of steel plus passengers. That a lot of work.....

Just a thought.

I don't necessarily agree. All vehicles of simialr size, and there are only a couple, have similar features that most of us were looking for - power, interior dimensions, towing abilities, warranties. The deciding factor for me was the availability of a diesel and the enherent quality of better fuel economy, relatively speaking. Without this option, the choice would have been much more difficult. A gas engine can propell these monsters quite effectively, but you may suffer a little more in the pocket book over the long haul.

You will suffer considerably more do the math.

With trailer and V-10 average 5.9 town 11.1
With trailer and 6.0 average 10.9 town 20.1
My total truck/trailer 19k average
You will suffer considerably more, premium in the v10 average cost 1.88 over a year.
Diesel cost over a year 1.48
Pull 6k a year with trailer
All other mileage on vehicle, about 4k a year.

Savings 1480 each year, not chump change in my wallet.
Keep the truck 6 years = 9k savings great to put in your retirement plan.
