Winch

Does anyone know of a company that may have a winch that can be hidden in the front bumper? I'm looking but can't seem to find any that can go inside the bumper. Trying to keep the front as clean as possible. I just love the front end of these trucks.

Warn has what you are looking for; they call it "hidden hitch". It involves moving the front bumper forward 6" and then installing a skirting kit to cover the gap.

The part numbers are 78105 for the 2008 Super Duty front bumper (~$450), and 78319 for the skirting kit (~$199). Those prices of course do not include the winch, which is the reason that I don't have one yet.

If you do the install, I'd love to see some photos.

Good luck.

I was hoping they had something that fit right as the bumber sits. Not sure I want my bumper sticking out. there is a big cavity behind the bumper. maybe some day they will come up with a more compact system. Thou compact means more $$$$
Less is more.

I put a front receiver hitch in. The winch is on a plate that goes into the receiver hitch. There is a wiring harness that goes to the front and the rear and the winch plugs into it. When not in use, the winch is stored in a cargo box in the bed.

This gives you the added feature of being able to winch from the front or the rear. You can also put a standard hitch into the receiver, for putting that travel trailer into a difficult spot.

It's not that much of a push. I think I have several pictures of my hidden kit in my gallery with a M1200 behind it. I do prefer it, mostly it doesn't scream I have a winch.

For you guys that use hitch receivers to mount your winch, if you want a secure method of storing it, mount another hitch receiver standing up in your bed, and the winch can stay there when it's not in use. Also can be pin-locked in place. If you have a canopy or a tonneau, nobody will see it. Has the additional benefit of not affecting your approach or departure angle.
