a 77 f150 with stock (new) front bumper. Looking for recommendations on winch plate that I can use with the stock bumer- what can I do to keep front bumper.
have a new 9000lb Superwinch that I want to get installed.
Box the inside of the frame under the flanges with 1/4" channel steel for 6-8" front to back, then mount a 3/8" piece of plate steel on top of the frame rail (will require cutting your grill) to mount the winch to. Bolt trough the plate/frame/backing steel with 5/8" grade 8 bolts.
I think that is what is recommended (the 3/8" plate steel and 5/8" bolts) for your winch or close to it.
I think (3) 1/2" grade 8 bolts each side would be enough (certainly the drill bits are cheaper) and would leave more of the frame rail undamaged, but, that call is up to you.
If I was going to mount a winch, I would work some tow hooks into the setup.
