I havn't had a regen (that I've noticed) since last winter! I had the latest flash done and have run probably 4 or 5 tanks of fuel through it since the flash and still no sign of a regen. My truck has black sooty tail pipes (since day 1) and it will leave a trail of black smoke anytime I get on it a little. I really don't know what I should do. The truck runs great, I'm getting 14MPG here in the hills of southern WV and no codes. Any suggestions? I know I have a cracked DPF. Will the dealer even replace the DPF since I havn't had any CELs? I mentioned it to my service writer when I first got the truck but he said "it's a diesel, it's supposed to smoke".

I have the same issues - never any sign or message of a regen, black soot in the tail pipes, and a dealer with a confused look on his face. I have debated leaving the cracked DPF in place since it seems a functioning one will reduce my mileage, however others on here have stated that it will eventually cause issues in performance. I have a 4 hour tow this weekend and if still no regen I plan to take it in.

If the Dpf is cracked and your pipe is black with soot you have an issues. Even cracked, it will not pass enough exhaust over time without a regen to clean the DPF filter. In time the filter will clog due to no regens becasue the crack will not pass the amount of exhaust that needs to pass and you will have issues. The addded back pressure is proably keeping the system in check for the time being. Your just on barrowed time, i would have it checked out so you dont have a big issue at an inconvinant time.
