I just bought a 37 ford stake bed and i put the hood on it. You can just make out some old lettering on it and was wondering if it made any sense to anyone. I think it says, "Proving V8 Economy." It says it on the gull wing hood sides. Also was wondering if anybody knew where I can get windshield casing and the regulator to crank the window out. Ive tried macs but no luck.
In '37 many dealers had trucks that had a paint scheme devised by Ford to prove the thriftiness of the V8. The hoods had painted on them, "PROVING V8 ECOMONY". These were used as a demonstrator for the dealerships. On most of the photos I have seen, there is also a Scottie dog on the doors with the slogan, "Aye- and Thrifty Too!" This was a Ford thing, seen on a few dealership or compnay owned vehicles at the time. This is an interesting part of your truck's past.
