Power Steering Fluid
I also read that Dexron III/Mercon ATF is no longer produced at all, I still have a few quarts of it around the garage and hope that I can use that as power steering fluid in the new truck (04' F150). Thoughts?

If Mercon was specified as a power steering fluid for your F-150, then you can use your remaining Mercon fluid, then switch to a dual use Mercon-V/Mercon fluid.
07-1-7***MERCON® ATF REPLACED BY MERCON® V AS A SERVICE FLUID FOR SOME POWER STEERING SYSTEMS
As a note to others reading this, if our P/S system had Type F fluid specified (like my 94 Taurus does), then we need to continue using that & it's widely available.
My 99 Ranger has Mercon specified for the P/S system & I'm using the last of my Mercon fluid in it, then I'll flush the P/S system at the next tranny fluid servce call out & switch the Rangers P/S system to Motorcrafts dual use Mercon-V/Mercon fluid, which I'm running right now in the Rangers 5R55E auto tranny.
No problems so far with the new Motorcraft dual use tranny fluid in the 5R55E tranny.
