mercon VI sync OOPS Dexron VI

I ran up on 4 free quarts of Mercon VI sync trans fluid.....can i use this in the power steering????/

To my knowledge, there's no such thing as Mercon VI. Where'd you get it from?

My mistake----its dexron VI full sync......any way is it usable in the power steering?????

I would use only mercon or mercon V in the power steering..And if you switch to syn, use only Mobil 1 dexron/mercon, mercon V ATF.

No, the system was designed for mercon or mercon V. The reason you dont' see dexron/mercon anymore is because the new fluids (mercon V and dexron VI) have too many differences to make a universal fluid I found an article about this while looking for the mercon VI last night. You can still buy it.. example: Oreillys.. and Autozone still stock Mercon AFT. Not saying next year.. it might be gone forever..
