The right blinker will blink, but the parking light does not work. they both work off the same bulb. i tried another bulb but it stays the same. now the connection has three wires that goes into a stock looking metal connector. The left blinker connector look to be an after market plastic one. i wonder what should i do to fix it. try re-wiring the old one, or get a new connector.

Well since the right blinker works the ground for the right side is good. Is the connector corroded? Are you sure the bulb you tried is good?
Try checking for voltage at the contact for the right parking light. Make sure the contacts of the socket are clean. I have seen where the contact spring is a little weak and doesn't push the contact up against the bulb, this means a new socket usually.
The three wires into the socket are the blinker, parking light and ground. Should be black for ground, I cant rememeber the other colors off the top of my head, maybe green for blinker and yellow for parking light?
Anyway if you decided to replace the socket it is easy, just match the wires up.
Good Luck.

I had serious issues with the tail lighting harness on my 79 F150. Best thing I ever did was purchase the Haynes manual for my truck. I had to go hand over hand with it all. My issue was the wiring internally was so corroded that I just replaced it. It found a complete replacement on EBay. You just need to get the book, clear your mind of everything and hit it hard. On the bulbs, I’ve found that the end of the bulb that touches the bottom of the socket didn’t have the raised nipple or point to touch the metal strip. Some Ford bulbs can be installed incorrectly. Just rotate it 180 degrees in the socket. Good luck!!! Get The Book!!!!
