Timing on dome light

I have a '98 Ranger Super Cab and recently I got a clifford model alarm w/ remote entry installed.
In addition the doors are supposed to lock once the ignition is started. The problem I am having is a) I close the door and have to wait a long period of time before the light goes out then start it, and the lock will work. Is their a way to decrease to timer on the dome light? b) my second problem is that once the key turns past postion 2, the dome light should automatically go out. Why isn't this happening? I think the problem behind the whole thing is that if the car is started and the light is on, it thinks a door is open.

Timing on dome light

I dont know, and have my own question, but it
Sounds like a door switch was not reconnected.

Anybody know why my dome/bed light will not shut off?
It times out after several minutes - and then shuts off.
I figure it is a door switch - but they appears to be a major pain to get to diagnois.

Anybody want to offer a guess which door (three door cab) maybe causing the problem - or what else it may be?

Thanks,

Timing on dome light

I have a 96 t-bird, and the dome light goes out upon starting the engine, as soon as I turn the key.

Agreed.
For the light to turn off upon starting sounds normal.

As for my problem, (on my 98 F150 three door)I have singled out that it is related to my driver's side door - 99.99% confedence that it is the door switch.
But, I can't seem to find the the switch nor the access to the switch, which is more likely than not at the end of arm that pushes in and out of the door jam, on the hinge side.
No engine access - no door jam access - not from under the truck.

Good news!!
I fixed my problem.
I sprayed the latch with silicone based lub, and it totally fixed the problem - and now the dome light shuts off right away!!
For details check out the thread on page two of these posting titled: "F-150 dome lights, door ajar"
also found here:

Thanks everyone!!

I fixed my problem a few months ago. I suggest anyone with dome light problems first try this before anything else. Try spraying WD-40 into the door where the latch is. This seems to work everytime.
