I just took delivery of a new (to me) 2002 Supercrew. The vehicle only came with one key.
My question to you is this. I see keys on EBAY all the time. How does one go about programming them for the PATS on the vehicle?
I don't think you can program additional keys on a 2002 when you only have one, might need to take the truck in to have more programed. But I've been wrong before so check your owners manual and if you don't have one you can download it from ford.com.
Sorry, bad news. You have to have 2 keys in order to program another. If you are down to 1 key, you are forced to visit the dealer and they really rip you off...up to $150. I have 2 vehicles with only one key. So far I am just hoping I don't ever lose one, I guess I would be stuck with a tow truck if so. I think you can save a little if you buy one of the ebay keys, because the dealer will charge more for the key itself. Sorry, I feel your pain!!
Well when I bought my 2000 SuperCab it only had one key... I went to ford dealership...I think it was around 35 dollars for the key. And then I had to come back to get the key flashed for around 70.00 dollars...I was pissed.... 100.00 some bucks for a spare key...Hope that gives you an idea..on cost..atleast here in CO.
