ok im going to put stacks on my ford and im not sure how to route the exhaust..
its between the frame rails and i want the stacks on the edge of the bed ( im running dual 2.5's with glasspacks my thoughts were to route the pipes up through the bed and run them over to the edge of the bed and put a mandril(sp?) bent 90* and put the glasspacks on them, then cut the glasspacks off about 1/4 the way up and put the 4.5 or 5 inch ( how ever big around the glasspack is ) stack over it and welt it all the way around.
I am thinking about putting stacks on my truck. I am going to use a simple kit that I found on ebay. Yours sounds better but kinda complicated. So the stacks are going to be like 5" or 6" and slid over the glasspacks? The glasspacks will be in the bed? Where will you weld the stacks to, the bed? Are you going to dual it out or are you just going to split it once in the bed? I think that you can not dual it out due to the placement of the front fuel tank.
You might regret glasspacks as in my experiencethey "blow-out" easy (I still use them on my gas rigs though) and if you don't have a turbo it'll be LOUD and especially obnoxious behind/over your head.
I might be wrong but I would think a diesek would be even harder on the mufflers than a gas motor.
You know how much of that noise you'll get inside the cab?
It'll be deafening. My brother had straight piped stacks on his '02 Cummins Ram, and he just took them off a couple weeks ago because he said he just couldn't stand the noise inside the cab on longer trips.
I don't have stacks but my IDI Turbo is straight piped and it is not bad AT ALL!
It sounds good and you can't even really tell until it's wound up. If the windows are up you still can't hardly tell.
