i think my vacuum pump may be going bad. i have a (don't laugh) womp womp womp noise when i am sitting there idling with the brake on thats coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. its worse sometimes with the A/C on but am trying to figure out what it could be. only thing i could think of would be the vacuum pump. anyone else heard/had this happen before?
only noticeable at extremely low speeds (e.g. turning in and out of the driveway, idling at a stoplight, fast food drive thru, etc...). Seems it is definitely coming from the passenger side of engine bay. any help would be appreciated.
when the ac is on does the pump hold the door open or only open and close it? it honestly seems to happen mpst when the brake is applied. but its coming from the passenger side and it literally a muffled but very audible womp womp womp womp womp until the brake is released and i apply the throttle. could it be something in the power steering pump or hydraulics? it sure does sound like air though and the ps pump is on the driver side. very perplexing and annoying. does not seem to affect performance. i thought it may be a leak in the vacuum reservoir or even a leaky pump. also seems more noticeable when the wheels are turned all the way to the right or left. may just be coincidence though as i hear it mostly in slow turns like pulling into the driveway or parking or something

check the pulley and shaft on the powersteering pump for play. also check the idler pulley and belt for wear.
My old 460 made a weird noise similar to what you are describing but it never gave me any problems... could it just be that you're more in-tune with your truck than in the past so you are noticing it now???
i have been noticing it for a while now. i just changed the entire belt tensioner assembly, brake master cyinder, fuel pump, fuel filter, and installed in tank mods this past weekend. not to mentioned dropped my fuel tank and cleaned out. some ******* put water and sand in my fuel over last weekend. i only pray i catch who did it. actually they did me a favor as i have had the in tank mods in my garage for 6 months now but just been too lazy to drop the tank and install them. anyway, i will listen for it closely tomorrow as now that i think about it the belt tensioner assy could have been weak. i changed it because a pulley was squealing and all napa had in stock was the entire assy. how convenient.
