okay well maybe i have more issues than i think i do. after it sits idling for about 20-30 mins i touch the gas and it seems to suck in a huge amount of air. fuel line problem on that one i know also, when i do get it going and started it only seems to want to start after i have bump started it. and then it only seems to restart when its toasty warm after that. also i think i maybe might have an issue with the thing over heating. my last two trucks never seemed to do this but this one generally likes to keep the needle on the thermastat around the m to the a on the normal. also if this thing is or does have a cavitation issue on it then how and what are the signs of this happening? not to mention i had attempted to fix my injectors by building my own tester and shim them they are not new new and yes they are a mixture of codes but at the same time they are all with-in the same psi range of 1700 - 1900. i dont know if they are supposed to be that high and would really like to know if thats the recomended firing pressure! it was something that i had read of another site. i could really use some feed back on what to do here because im about to give up and take my **** out of it and sell it to some idiot who wants to buy it? and then just buy me a new 7.3 this truck seems to be too much work any more in trying all that i am to get the dam thing going and running right! so any and all comments and help and what ever will be greatly appreciated!
on a new note i went threw and clipped and redone all fuel lines just barely mainly got rid of some huge loops and long travel time hose like the water fuel seporator lines that i just connected together and also the return line on the lift pump that for some reason lord knows why it was doing a circle in a hose the size of a bean can but is not just bolted right too it. and also if anyone has any idea of where i can get the o-rings for the fuel connectors on the tanks and the tank switch it would be nice my rear tank is leaking i think and switch also maybe but i would rather just replace them all! save time
its done it before and i know it has but i had just gave it a little gas and it seems to fix it but occasionally it gets this womp sound from the motor and i dont know what it is or how to fix it i thought it was because of low oil but i checked that nad its fine any ideas to what it may be
Wow, that's a lot all at once. Let's focus on the overheating and whomping sound. Did you ever unbolt or remove the IP? Are you sure the the timing is spot-on? The last time I had an overheating or high temp problem, my IP was way too advanced.
The last time I had a whomping or chugging sound, it was coming from the intake and it turned out to be a bad injector. Seeing that you rebuilt the injectors, there is a high likelihood that you have one or two bad injectors. Does the engine shake at idle or shake the whole truck in reverse?
It is normal for the fuel line to loop once at the lift pump before connecting to the hard line going to the filter housing. There are more than likely no fuel supply or fuel return systems causing the overheating or whomping sound. If the timing is off or the injectors are bad, either or both could be causing the main problems.
yes the sound is coming from the intake and i had replaced the ip bout fall last year. the last time i messed with it i never took the gear out just removed the injector pump by removing the screws and what not on the back and the front and had taken pictures to be able to put it back in the right place. the injectors on the other hand before i had rebuilt them as i said were all firing at about 300 to 1000 psi and i had shimmed them up to or between 1700-1950 psi is where they were poping at. and then had put them back in and it did not at all want to fire i had to use ether to get her running and have had to use ether to do so ever since which was only a couple of days ago. i hate to use it but im tired of driving my parents boat around ( 96 mercury grand marquis). i guess to fix the injectors i could just buy new ones cause im tired of messing with these ones and i plan to buy new ones or i guess rebuilt ones and new glow plugs and reutrn line and all that for a fairly good price that i found on ebay from a diesel store online.
so as far as the timing goes i dont believe that i have messed it up to fairly badly also the whole dam truck shakes no matter what. and i believe i know why. a while ago my other truck which blew up do to my own stupidity had a four speed in it that i replaced the zf with because the syncros went out in it and didnt have the money to fix it. so when i put the four speed in it the output shaft that has the nut on it on the back of the trans had tourqed off due to some fairly heavy work i had put it threw and i didnt have the money then either to get a new transfer case to fix the problem nor the experience the just replace the out put shaft if it was at all possible so i had just welded the yoke back too it. clearly its out of balance and i need to fix this also but i just cant keep any money to save my life. and my lines of work dont seem to help either but other than that shaking i havent really noticed any other shaking when idiling. sorry for this being so long but im bored and can not sleep. lol
and also as far as the fuel lines i just shortened the lines and the lines from where the water fuel seperator have been just connected at the top of the fender for the longest time so i shortened the connection and the other is the feed for the lift pump i had also basiclly put them together with about a inch and half of hose so they are just like they connect to extend the life of the lift pump and my starter.

The video will probably provide some insight on the womping and shaking issue. But it sounds to me like you need new injectors, and that there is a good possibility of your truck needing adjustment on timing. Even a little bit off can screw things up. If you have the time and dont mind reading into it and checking it I would read this and then play around with it to make sure your in time.
okay well imma upload the video to my fb and then post the link in here cause i cant member what to do to upload it here. also its just of the exaust from a cold start. so i dont know if it will be much help and i havent heard the womping sound for a day now it only des it every now and again.
So I advanced the timing I don't have the time to take everything off and line up marks but u can really hear the valves knocking now but it starts right up and has no ***** now I think im gonna just buy new **** and other things and then do the timing on it
