newest engine pics..

I'm just waiting for my harness to arrive from Painless to get started on this swap. I just need to get a new clutch, flywheel, MSD fuel pump an some fuel lines, and a few sensors. Then it's a Diablosport chip tuned 331 GT40 engine for my old pickup! By the way, before anyone gets their panties in a wad, those mustang headers are not going on the truck. I'll order the flowtechs when I start the swap.

Easier than taping off the mount! Just leave the old filter there!

Looks killer! I see you have a spacer on the intake, was that needed to clear those valve covers or just to lengthen the runners?

Both really. It started with the valve covers tho.

Hey so you are staying speed density? I want to put a stroked windsor in my 86 FI but don't want to switch to MAF.

I was wondering about that also. I want to build a 347 next summer and was wondering if I would have to do to MAF? I want to keep it EFI. Or could I just get a good SD tune?

I'm sticking with MAF. It's a C&L 80mm unit calibrated for 24# injectors. If I were you guys, I'd go with a maf system. Sticking to Speed Density limits what you can do with the heads, cam, intake setup. Trust me, I had a customer a while back with a SD 87 mustang and despite what I told him, he went ahead and installed a E-303 cam, AFR heads and a Cobra manifold. This guy had to open the throttle body about half way to get the thing to idle. Even when it did, it ran INSANELY rich! Black smoke everywhere.

If you do go EFI, get the painless or fordfuelinjection.com harness. They run MAF. The .com harness does add more sensors, like the Inertia switch and neutral saftey that the Painless kit does not have. Depends on what you want. If you already have a SD efi setup and want to do engine mods, get with PRO-M for the add a MAF harness they have.

As for the computer, I'm using my "A3M" computer from my mustang. It's up there with the "A9L" that everyone loves. Great timing curve.

My truck is SD right now. Ideal situation would be to find a parts truck with a 5.8 Maf and a zf 5 spd

It would, but it'd be a pain to get all that harness out! I myself am on the lookout for that ZF 5 speed tranny though. Does it require a new driveshaft?

get rid of that upper intake that thing is restricting a lot of power that you'll never see with that intake
