Getting Parts Local - Where?

Greetings once again!

As I have mentioned before I am restoring an 80 F100 here in Lexington. I was just wondering if any of you fellas might know of some local places I can pick up interior and body parts. New, used, OEM doesn't matter. Kind of trying to avoid buying online, as the freight charges offset any savings, and are often more expensive than the parts!

I've already hit my local CMC U Pull it, but the trucks are just mangled by the inexperienced mechanics. You know, wires cut or just yanked out, steel bent to 90 degree angles... that sort of thing.

No one knows where to score parts?

Well in my attempt at finding them myself. I did chance upon some Stepside fenders local... in good condition. But then again it was just chance that I found them.

I have been looking for some stuff for my 79 also but i have found out that cmc sometime has good stuff and sometimes not. There is a bunch of junkyards out in gaston on 321 that might have some good parts there is also another cmc out there. There is also a good junkyard in saluda that usaully has some good stuff but depending on what kinda mood the owner is in depends on what kinda deal you can get but I haven't been up there in awhile so I am not sure what kinda stuff he has. What kinda stuff are you needing I could keep a lookout for you and let you know if I find anything that you are needing also.

Thanks! I will give some of those a try.

The parts I am looking for are:

Drivers Side Door
Stepside Sides
Stepside Tailgate
Stepside Bed Panel
Passenger Side Front Fender

Picking up my Stepside fenders Saturday. But got such a good deal for them I do not mind traveling to get um.

Thanks again

Just wanted to add that I was gonna keep the Pass Side Front Fender after my initial tap test (tapping for bondo spots) in which I did find some bondo work, how bad could it be right? Well, after some sanding on it to get a better look, a massive bondo job on it made me think otherwise. It's almost 1/4 in thick in some places abd from the front bottom to the front top of the fender. So as to not tempt fate with a nice paint job cracking later, I am just gonna junk it and replace it.

I think my biggest hurdle with this restoration, will be the step side parts (flareside). They seem to be extremely hard to find! I will be replacing my stock styleside.

MAR-K has the front bed panel and tailgates for your truck, if it is a short bed. We are in Oklahoma City, but the shipping is free right now, only $8.95 handling fee to ship UPS Ground in the continental US.
I don't know of anyone making those bed sides right now, because of the small wheel well indention. We also can't help with the door or the fender.
You can find us at MAR-K Classic Truck Parts made in Oklahoma City, USA
Hope this helps!

Thanks Mar-Ktech I will keep you guys in mind. I have been to your site many many times

The truck sides however, Dennis Carpenter is still making them.. only one I know of that still does. But the insane shipping and handling fees just make it not worth it. $450 for one side $500 for the other and $75 handling fee for EACH... PLUS freight shipping.

Dennis Carpenter is located real close to Lowes Motor Speedway...it would be worth the 1.5 hour drive to pick up something like that.

The U-pull-it near Lexington isn't usually good for much. There are 3 junkyards in Sumter (2 right off of 76/378 near Shaw AFB) that have a score of old ford trucks. I've picked up many parts for my 77 from those yards.

I've heard good things about the Sumter Salvage yards. I am just gonna have to head there soon I think. I don't mind traveling too far to get what I need. The fenders I bought (the fiberglass kind) I had to travele to Summerville to pick them up. Just happened to find them on Ebay as a pick-up only item. Needs some minor repairs at the bolt holes, and the metal hanger pieces will need to be replaced, But either way pleased to have found them for $25 each!

Dennis Carpenter may in the end get a visit from me in October.

Make the trip on the weekend of the 24th in October and you'll be able to catch the goodguy nationals car show they hold annually at the speedway. There will be a few thousands cars out there. I always have a blast.

I was out at CMC in lexington today and there was a bronco out there the same body style as you truck and it looked like it had some pretty good looking doors and fenders on it. I didn't look at too closely but I looked at it kinda quick and it didn't look like they had rust or dents in them so it would probaly be something to check out. The broco was gray btw if you do go to look for it.

AAA in West Columbia have a ~200 acre yard that usually has a good variety of Ford (and other) pickup trucks. They add stock fairly often.
