wiring underhood for 76 f-250
I was wondering if anyone had any sources to new/or used wiring in good condition for underhood of my 76 f-250 W/ a 390 or 428, not sure yet. motor size is unimportant, but I need ALL the underhood wiring, ignition, charging, starting etc. im restoring it and want all the frayed and burnt wires replaced for safety reasons.
Any companies that sell aftermarket wiring assemblies new at a reasonable cost? I was going to school in phoenix and stopped at a junk yard, guy there quoted me 100 bucks just for the wires from the coil, distributor and ign. module. used out of a 75!, sounded high to me, hate to see what he wanted for everything. if this is gonna cost a ridiculous amount I might just rip the motor and rebuilt trans out and find a new host body for them.
any help would be highly appreciated.
thanx, Justin

I think you went to the wrong junk yard, $100 is a rip!
I had to replace the rear part on mine and found a nice setup in a pick-n-pull (self serve type) yard for $10. The problem with used wires off a 20+ year old is that they can be pretty bad and I had to hunt a while to find a good setup.
I took the part from the front to the back (4 wires about 10' long) and a shop wanted over $150 to make new one, I decided to just buy some quality wire and do it myself.
Painless makes excellent kits, but I think they are universal but they should still work.

thanx for the replies!,
yeah, that particular junkyard was bad, huge selection, but pricey, guy wanted 250 bucks for an a/c compressor in need of a rebuild!
ill check out painless, thanx for the leads, still some other junk yards around I need to check but that last one discouraged me. If it boils down to it, ill spend the 100 or so bucks and rewire her one wire at a time, if I do that I'm gonna rewire the entire truck!
My dad thinks I'm stupid for wanting to restore a truck that is "not going to be worth anything" But I love the thing.
anyway, I'm off track, thanx again.
