BTW, I was under the impression that only the stick shifts used the coolant temp for adaptive or whatever engine save feature. The autos were left to burn up. Dumb, yes, but that was my understanding.
Curtis keep chasing that one down, but you may want to make sure the oil temp is spot on. Seems to me it is working OK from your posts though.
Also might want to keep a close eye on your air temps, both of them, and your baro along with your manifold parameters.
I just put in the truck id. and did a manual search and it came up with a gauge switch and sensor. It did not ask if it was standard or auto. trans..
I am curious of this outcome. We are having a similar problem on an MT truck and have not been able to track it down. You maybe on to something.
I have an 2002, automatic truck and I have a factory coolant temp sender. I use my Terminator Scangauge to monitor my coolant and my oil temps on my main screen. The Scangauge reads directly from the PCM just like AE does. My screen doesn't register coolant temps until it reaches 180 degrees and then it rises from there. I'd replace the sensor.
Well I haven't had a chance to do crap to my truck today other than haul loads of trash and rip my shed in half (that's another story for another time, I'm still pissed). So anyway, I'm just trying to read up on a few posts here and on other forums.
According to the service manual, my truck is not supposed to even have the ECT sensor at all, but it does exist on my truck. So now the question is, do the 2002-03 automatics send ECT info to the PCM? All the service manual stuff I've seen is for the 99 trucks, and we know that the PCM's in the 2002+ trucks are different. So, where's the info on those PCM's?
My truck still runs like crap when it gets warmed up, so something is coming up to temp and throwing things off. From the data I tracked yesterday, the coolant temp is the only thing that looked out of whack. Everything else was perfectly normal.
