I have an 05 F250, stock with the exception of the intake, and am looking to do a muffler delete pipe, not cat. My concern is interior noise while on the highway at highway speeds (2000rpms). I dont want to deal with any "droning" sounds for hours at a time. For those that have done the swap is this a concern? Or will I not notice any increase in sound while on the highway? We do a lot of highway driving and I will not do the swap if the noise increase is significant.
i did not notice any difference by removing the muffler as far as interior noise goes at highway speeds. Now add a tuner and put the pedal to the floor and we're on a whole different level.
I got rid of my muffler 10k miles ago. The only noticable difference in sound is under hard acceleration. Driving at 60 mph It sounds the same. No drone.
You won't notice any sound change inside. I even removed it on my old excursion and it didn't change the inside sound. My current F250 has a 5 inch cat back and it has WAY more drone than my X did without a muffler.
My 04 has a straight pipe and because highway crusing rpms are below the 2300 loud zone I dont notice any drone in the cab.It makes a hell of a noise from 2300 up though.

I gutted the cat and welded in a 3.5 half inch pipe in place of the stock muffler. No diffrence in sound at cruising speed or in cab. Sounds really good at around 2300 RPMS and up. I got a little better MPG about a mile more
