Did you have the ends flaired or did you butt weld the pipes?

I went to summit bought a 4 foot section of 3.5 inch pipe welded it on to my stock exhaust pipe in place of the muffler cost 25.00 dollars and a 30 pack of budwiser for me and my friends who helped me install it! I also removed the Cat and gutted it out. Then Reinstalled it with no problems. Gained a few more MPG and a lot more turbo whistle!
I have a 2004 PSD with the turbo back, catalytic convertor and "monster" exhaust muffler. My warranty is up in april '09. Do you guys think thatparticular muffler is restrictive????? I
I also read that removing the MUFFLER it will throw codes, doesn't sound right but what do you guys think?
By removing both the cat and muffler would it be too LOUD or just sound awesome? What do you guys think?......will it throw codes then????
