There is a resistance test that you can perform, usually outlined in the shop manual.
From past experience with a '90 and a '93, when a couple go bad, the rest are not far behind. I replace all eight at one time, just like changing spark plugs.
With the '93 I had far better longevity with Bosch brand versus any of the others. I was informed by a Ford truck mechanic that the glow plug timer was setup specifically for Bosch and it wears out the other brands quicker.
