I thought I had a C6 in my 84 but my dad told me yesterday that it's not a C6 but a THX or something like that. I've never heard of it, do any of ya'll know what he's talking about? What is this thing and how good is it? I thought I had an indestructable combo but now I may opt for an overdrive tranny if this one isn't that good. All I know for sure is that's it's a non-overdrive auto behind a 351W in a 4x4. Thanks.

 

THX... Maybe FMX, but I doubt it. Is it all one piece, all aluminum? If so, C6.

Yeah that's it FMX, thanks for the link, I'll look tomorrow. I can't remember off hand ir it's one peice or not. What's an FMX and is it as good as a C6?

 

FMXs were used in the 60s & 70s. If memory serves my they weren't bad trannys. I believe they were behind engines like the 429s etc.

 

It's not going to be a FMX unless someone swapped it in.

 

If it has a castiron body then it may be a FMX, As to whether they are any good. I've never been able to break one yet. And they were out when I was a kid.
