I just bought a 60 F100 with the original 223/3-speed and the engine is dead. I found a 59 F600 with a good running 292 and 4-speed. Will the F600 have the parts I need to swap the 292 to my original trans? I'm planning on going over this afternoon to check the truck out but if, I'm going to have to scrounge for more parts to get the 292 to work, then I'll probably pass. Thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks for the reply. The reason I was asking is because I had read somewhere that I can't use the bell housing and clutch from my 223. I had also read that the F600 292 bell housing is different than the F100 292 bellhousing because the F600 used a HD 4-speed. I also read that the F600 motor mounts were different than the F100. Is this true or false?
You are correct about the Bellhousings, I missed that some how.
The 223 & 292 Bellhousings are different & you'll need to puchase an adaptor in order to mate the 3-speed to the 292 or Locate the correct Bellhousing.
Why would the Engine Mounts be different from the F-100 to the F-600, my books don't show any difference.
But to be completely sure, ask NumberDummy here in the Forum.
I just did a 292 swap into a 60 Ford f-100. Here are the differences I found:
You need to swap radiators- the lower outlet is on the opposite side.
The bellhousings are different. If you need a 292 3 speed bellhousing, I have one out of a 64 ford 292- I think they are the same. I'll sell it to you for $100. Plus shipping.
You may consider just swapping in the 4 speed- I think it is a "bolt in"-you will have to cut the tunnel for the shifter
The 292 front motor mount is the same for a 59 or 60 pickup- I'm not sure about a dump truck.
I didn't have the carb to gas pedal rod, so I fabricated one.
I think the rearend ratios are different. Maybe the number dummy can give you the info on that. My 17 year old son will drive this occasionally, so I left the 3.89's in it!!
have fun with it!

Thanks for the info! I have about decided that the 292 is not going to do what I want it to do (within my budget) so I have located a 460/C6 at a good price so I have going to give that a shot. Thanks.
You'll sped 10 times More by going w/ the 460/C6 combo, as you'll have to make all New engine & trans mounts, relocate where the engine & trans mounts are for the 460/C6 combo, set them back & off an to the side a tick so as they'll fit, still swap out the radiator, hoses & all the electrics.
When all you to do to do the 292 swap is buy a radiator, hoses & a Bellhousing to make it work, you do the math.
