D60 Carrier Help
Ok, I need some help/suggestions with this
Im installing a lock rite on my D60, easy enough
Pop the cover and everything looks good (except my muddy gear oil
)
so I start with the roll pin, and cant get it out...
Try it some more...
and still cant get it
Well 2 days later im stumped!
The damned roll pin will not come out
Ive taken a carrier apart a few times, but always on a cheby
I opened up a spare GM D44 I had and made sure I wasnt going crazy. Sure enough I taped out the roll pin with no problems
Heres what I am working with

Drivers side of the pin

Pass side

I am trying to avoid pulling the carrier, but if push comes to shove, I might just pull it
Anything im missing here?
and its on my 03 F250 V10 D60 with 3.73s

I have always pulled those while on the bench. The 60 carrier is easy to remove, just make sure you keep the caps in order, and oriented in the right direction.
Re-torque them properly after the re-installation. Maks sure that you do not drop the races when you remove the carrier, and you should be just fine. You will not disturb any lash by doing this. I say this, as long as the bearing and shims are not removed. This is probably the easiest to do, and you will be victorious over that little roll pin.

Im gonna give it one more try tonight, and if that doesnt work, than im pulling it for sure
oh, and which way does it come out?
Does it matter?
I do not believe it does, as the hole is not tapperd, but I have always tapped them out from the ring gear side.
From left to right as viewd from the back of inspection cover, but again, it does not matter.
For some odd reason, I always replace the little roll pin also, not out of necessity, it is just a practice of mine.
