I've never been real confident in what ''invoice'' really is. Sure, publications like Edmunds and Cars Direct can get you in the ballpark, but with the factory to dealer incentives and holdback, plus any other under-the-table palm greasing, we'll never really know the true price the dealer paid for the vehicle. All the buyer will hear from him is that he's not making anything on the sale.

Well said, and if that were true, why in the hell is he still in business? I've been known to beat the dealer to a pulp on the sale and slip the salesperson a $100 for his time. I'm not a well to do man, but I've sold new Fords and worked as hard for the $25.00 minimum deal (1989 dollars) as I did for a higher gross sale. The salesperson feels the sting the worst. Bottom line: this guy is trying to feed his family like the rest of us.

That IS true, the "lowly" drive salesman does all the grunt work, and is basically a courier, running offers between the customer and sales manager. At the end of the day he gets the crumbs, while the dealership owner and sales manager rake in the profit.
Is Ford still offering employee pricing? Here in Vegas it's gone bye-bye. Anyone know if it's coming back? And when? Dealers inventiry is through the roof at all local dealers here in town.
The ford dealership i work at is still offering "employee" pricing on vehicles.
I was kicking tires today at a local ford dealer whle my bride was in the dentist chair and they still have employee pricing on thier windshields. In this area however, it appears to have gone by the wayside as an advertising tool.
If you go into a well stocked dealer and if you are hovering around mediocrity as a negotiator, you should still be able to easily knock off 11-12K off the window price.
10% below invoice is NOT going to get it. I agree 100%. The Rams are going for $15K OFF sticker. Local dealer has 8 of them. Sticker, $40K. Can walk away with one for $25K. A good deal for someone who wants a truck. Lifetime warranty too.

Here in ABQ...a local Dodge dealer has the trucks for 50% off MSRP. Just watched a GM commercial and local dealer has inventory for 25% off MSRP.
Where is FORD in all this??? Missing in action once again...
F250's are going for more than $10k below sticker near me. 20% below msrp and they are not moving. I am thinking 50% below stick is what it will take with $4.70 diesel.
I haven't looked at the details of this 'employee pricing' deal from GM, but if you want to see actual employee prices, go to gmfamilyfirst.com then click on one of the links for "price your vehicle" (aka build it) or "search dealer inventory". Those links will take you to the gmbuypower website with the parameters to see actual employee prices as well as MSRP.
