Hi I hope someone can help me with a problem I made for myself. I was looking at the 4 wires that come out from the distrutor on my 76. I decided to "fix" the bare wires and unplugged the connector that is close to the firewall. Well, the plastic was bad also and it broke apart. I know, I should have labeled the wires or something because 4 colored wires go in and 4 different colors come out the other side. Going into the plug I have a green with yellow, a light brown with yellow, a black with green, and black with blue. Coming out is a red with blue, a solid orange, a solid yellow, and a solid black. My "Hanes" wiring diagram does not help me much- I can't figure out what its saying. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rich
Dennis, Thanks for replying. Yes they come from the distrubor, through the plug in then it gets hard to follow them. Atleast one goes through the fifewall. The others get lost mixed in with others. Rich
According to my haynes manual the wires coming out of the dizzy are:
pink/blue >> goes to connector to ignition modulator
black/green >>connector to ignition modulator
b/yellow >>ignition modulator
Black >>to coil
There is absolutely No mention of an Orange wire.
What's the number on the distributor?
It should be on the side of the body ,beside the where the vacuum advance attaches.
Please e-mail me direct for schematics
