400 streetmaster

Does anyone know the RPM range for the old Edelbrock Streetmaster 400 intake manifolds?

I picked up a free shortblock, an extra 400 crank, and 2 extra sets of rods from a guy today for free, and he threw in the intake also

Edelbrock Streetmaster 400

the streetmaster is good to around 5500 rpm, the S.P.2.P. ran out of steam at 4500 rpm. I have an old edelbrock catalog if I can just find it. these number are from memory.

I put it on today and took it up to 5200, then took it to a little higher elevation and it wont go past 4800, so i need to re-tune the carb for the intake if i plan on keeping it on there. With the old edelbrock performer 400 it was a fight to get it above 4500 without trouble.. So i think there is some potential with this intake, even in my truck.

I plan on going to denver tonight, which is about 4000 feet lower in elevation than where i live, and seeing how it does down there. Half the fun of putting on a new part like this is re-tuning everything to get it to work at its best!!!

Feels like it needs less fuel mid-range and more top end fuel.. this is going to be fun..

Wow, really lean up top!! Pulled a few plugs and they are extremely overheated and lean after coming up the hill today. Also have some lean popping going on. I already jumped up 3 sizes on the 2ndary jets, guess ill have to go up even more!! There is a ton more top end RPM and power, but the bottom end is slacking just a little. I Hope i can get it enough fuel to work up top without killing the low end even more.

The intake swap made very little improvement. Before, my fastest time racing was a 14.32 in the 1/4 mile, yesterday i got 3 new fastest times, 14.103 being the new fastest time ever in my truck. Surprisingly, the 60 footers were exactly how they were with the dual plane intake, if not just a tad better, which to me makes no sense in a 6000 pound truck.

The truck still will only rev to 4500 rpm when racing, i think that must either be max on my camshaft, or that the harmonics from the drivetrain are getting too bad at that point because my transfer case bolts rattle loose at that point, even with lock tite.

Im going to switch slicks to try to go thru the traps at 4500 rpm, instead of hitting 4500 rpm at the thousand foot mark, like i am now and see if i can get into the 13's.
