I asked the same question a couple of months ago......
And you learned nothing from your previous thread?
We would really like to know what you either a) are thinking about dropping the 7.3 in, or b) what you're thinking of cramming under the hood to replace the 7.3

Sure I did....
The Cat C-9 or the C-7......
I believe it was agreed that the C-9 was too big, and the C-7 was about the same spec as the 7.3L, so why bother.......
Y'all brought me back down to Earth......One thing you guys mentioned was that the 7.3L was fairly economical and easy to get 'crate'........

Wasnt my previous thread But he did get me the info I needed.
Im restoring my 78 Ford Country Squire station wagon. It currently has a 460 in it. I was thinking i could work a 7.3PS into it and have great torque, and milage. The 460 is good for about 8mpg. Haha
So now i just need to compare the 460 dimensions. Anyone have that handy? HAHAHA
That part of the post was meant for Supergordo. Sorry for not making that clear.
Those are the basic specs for the International version of our 7.3 powerstroke. There were a couple of modifications done to the original design to get it to fit under the hood of the Super Duty, so I'd say there's a good chance that the height includes the turbo. I'll try and get you a rough measurement tomorrow for conformation.
If it does, do you have the extra 6 inches under the hood to spare?

I dont recall having a previous thread on this subject, though i havent logged on in a long while.
I bet I dont. But it is a project car, and maybe I modify the Frame so it might fit. Or put a giant hood scoop on it! haha!

I guess I need to work on my communication skills. Cmpd1781 had a previous thread on this issue. We kept bugging him about letting us know what his plans were when he started asking about weight and dimensions.
I was just curious about your plans also, since it's always fun to speculate about what motor might fit into what vehicle.
I was just trying to say things to each of you in the same reply. I'll work on being more clear. Sorry for the confusion.

Haha, No worries. Things get lost in translation sometimes when we're on the forums. Thanks for the help!
Any chance you checked he engine height on yours yet?
Just a real rough stab at it since it's been raining pretty good here (finally). I haven't felt like laying down in the wet gravel trying to get an accurate reading, but looking at the front of the motor (bottom of front side of pan to top of alternator) looks to be about 31" or so. Measuring at the back (and really guessing from the bottom of the deep part of the oil pan to top of the turbo) looks to be a hair under 36"
