difference between dana 50 and 60 front
what is the defference between a dana 50, and a dana 60. im looking at getting a dana 60 for a project, and there is a guy that has a dana 50 that says its got d60 parts in it. everything is there except for the lockouts which i can get some for it.
in a nutshell does anybody know what the difference's are? could someone actually change the 50 parts out for 60 parts?
thanks, Austin

the dana 50 axle is kinda pointless only ford used it and its hard to find aftermarket parts for 'em i think that only the F-250s used them if im correct i think the srw F-350s had dana 60s since 1999

TTB was only found in OBS trucks, and only in F350's in the early 80's. After that it was exclusive the the F250 and was a D45 or D50.
Rear axles on our trucks should all be Sterling 10.25's, no idea how to tell if the front is a D50 or D60 other than crawl under there and see if it's marked somewhere.
I think that there was a difference in the number of bolts holding the hub assembly to the spindle. The 60 had fewer (5 or6) and the 50 more (6 or 8), don't remember the exact number. Seemed backwards but that's the info I have.

Chase, I'm not sure of the number of bolts but the info that I got stated the bigger had fewer. But it could be wrong. I would like to know for sure so if you find any good info, please share it.
