No, somewhere between 99 and 04 the front changed from D50 to D60. Rears have been Sterling 10.25's since back in the OBS days.

I bought a rear pinion seal for my truck a little while ago from the auto parts store and he said it was a 10.5 rear end?

the D50 has very little aftermarket support compared to the D60

The reason why Ford used the Dana 50 was they had a excess supply of the center chunks from the TTB trucks. It is what I was told so Ford used them up on the F-250s in 1999 to 2 ? .

The ring gear isn't a 9 3/4 gear like the Dana 60 but I think the tubes are the same as a 60.

The big drawback of the Dana 50 is you only had 2 gear choices which is 3:55 and 4:10s.

The hubs on the Dana 50 are Dana 60 hubs and knuckles.

Kenworth, I hate to break it to you but you can also get 3.73's in the D50... that's what my truck has stock for gears and I'm 90% positive it's a D50 but I could be wrong.

the guy that im talking to told me that he has changed out the ring, pinion, and the carrier to d60 units, is that possible or is it strictly d50 parts? also he has 35spline shafts in it.

Did Ford even offer 3:73 gears ?

Why bother with the Dana 50 find a Dana 60 and be done with it.

I've always thught that d50's were d60's housing/tubes with d44 ring/pinion and carrier.

yes i have 3:73's in my truck. and the reason for these is the guy has the front, and a 10.5 rear for a hell of a deal. plus i know that for what im going to be doing these axles will be nice because they already have discs on the front and the rear, and also they should fit under my 70' with little modification.

Are the brake components/set up similiar or identifical between D50/D60? Because I have a big brake system on my d50 ('03 Excur.EB) and wondered if I'd be able to swap to the D60.
