I am thinking of doing the foil delete mod, but I have a few questions. How difficult is it to get the pipe out? What do you use to get the foil off without cutting your hands up? Is there anything I should be aware of before taking on this mod? Thanks in advance.
Pipe comes on in 5 minutes.
I wore gloves, after i cut my fingers, doh. I used pliers and started pulling. It takes some time and even longer to get the glue off. Not that the whole project is hard, just time consuming.
I just did my foil delete a couple hours ago. It really wasn't hard at all. The worst part was getting the glue off the pipe that they used to keep the foil and insulation on. You don't cut your hands up when you take it off. A very easy mod. I also painted the pipe Ford blue before I put it back on. I took some of that spray glue that people use for crafts to make the boots tacky. Seemed to work well. Others have used that.
When I pulled my foil off I used gloves and it was no problem and if you'll use some paint stripper on that glue it'll melt right off. I used some plain ole Home Depot stuff and it wiped right off with a brillo pad.
I pulled the foil off with pliers as well. I pulled off okay without any bloodshed. To get the glue off, get a jug of Crown Sol-U-Strip from Lowes (the thick stuff). I painted that stuff on keeping it wet for about 30 minutes, and worked it right off. Cleaned with brillo pads & water, and let dry. I put up a thread about how I did mine last year, I'll see if I can find it...
The search doesn't seem to be working. I searched for words I know are in the thread title (or the thread itself) and the search function isn't finding it. I don't know why...
