hey yall, did you know Chuck Berry covered this Judas Priest song???? Hahahaha! I was strolling through youtube watching rock videos from my fav bands, when i came across this old gem. I couldnt believe it, i hadnt heard it in 15 years, forgot how much i liked it. so anyways i was reading the comments and some yayhole asked that question, i couldnt help giggle uncontrolably. I just kept going, my wife finally came over and looked. She is certain i was dropped on my head during my formative years! enjoy! Dan
Not bad, you don't get much more 80s hair metal than that. JP kicks ***, though, they were up here last month and of course I didn't have the spare cash to go-
YouTube - Iron Maiden-The trooper videoclip - Here's some of the best metal ever. Priest definitely kicks, so does Maiden. I have a ton of metal (the good crap before the chick orient "metal" bands showed up) burned on a CD in the truck.. play it 'til my ears bleed. Nugent kick **** too... before he became a political tool. Strangehold is arguably one of the top metal tunes ever, with some incredible guitar.
Yup. Maiden kicks ****. Definitely. 'The Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind' are the two best albums, I think. Their song "The Prisoner" off of the 'Beast' album ROCKS!
That's who I started with: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Black Sabbath.....And though they're not metal; Rush and Van Halen also.
Alright, Jared....You mentioned (as did Ken), the 'hair' metal......
Now THESE guys (below) are pretty hairy.....But they are most definitely NOT a hair band! Motorhead. 'Ace of Spades'. Enjoy.
Motorhead kicks *** pretty good, I do like most of the early metal like that though. What they are passing as metal now that's just screaming and yelling is a bit more than I can take. Then there's this guy: YouTube - Heavy Metal Monk
wow some of you guys shock me, i woulda never guessed. Maiden does rock, and Motorhead, well let me tell ya, i'm not an over the top Motorhead fan, but they are a must see band on bucketlist! I wanna sport a Real tour shirt from a show i went to and cut the sleeves off. dont know why call me an idiot, but i gotta do it. Judas Priest just feels good when i am blasting it on the bike, Harleys and priest... see it just sounds good! gonna try Motorhead tommorrow! Dan
By the way keep em comin, so far you guys are battin 1000.

What was so great about Rush was their song writing, just incredible. Van Halen... not metal, not really hair, just hard stuff. Eddie could wail back then. Sabbath... nothing bad to say abou them, some really great but simple riffs (ACDC is another example of simple riffs that they pieced together so well).
With priest I have to be careful... Screaming for Vengence and Breakin the Law, too easy to drive way to fast!
wow some of you guys shock me, i woulda never guessed.
Me too!
I pictured Ken vegging to some Brahms, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven......And Sheldon?.......Strictly a 'grunge' man imbibing intoxicating substances to the sounds of bands like Soundgarden, Jane's Addiction, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana......
funny thing about nugent, i like his music, and i believe the same as his politics, they just dont mix! I dont wanna pay to hear some politics at a concert...shut up and play yer guitar!!!!that was a good video, Steve! Dan

Just a 'technical' note.....
I think the contribution of Judas Priest to 'Metal' was the presence of 2 lead guitarists---meant to complement each other in the rhythm (to make it 'heavier', if you will), and trading off doing the soloes......
I think that traditionally, there was either 1 guitarist (a la Eddie van Halen), or 1 rhythm guitarist and 1 lead guitarist.....
Priest set the stage for the metal resurgence in the 80s.....No doubt......Their 'British Steel' album is classic.......
