I was looking through the '79 literature that the Brochure Kid posted and ran across the in-cab gun safe. Wow--that would be cool to have! Right now I carry my rifles/shotguns in scabards and just sit them behind the seat.
Anybody know if you can still get something like this? Here's the link.
I saw that too and it definetly peaked my interest. Could you imagine the uproar if that were an option today? anyway by looking at the pic I don't think it would be that big of a challenge to build it

Ford offered another for Super Cabs, it fit under the rear seat and would hold lots of guns if you took out the dividers. In order to use it on these models, one also had to buy the "Hi Setter" Kit, which raised the rear seat of Super Cabs up around 4" or so.
This kit also made sitting on the rear seat much more comfortable for ppl taller than "Billy Barty" size..as anyone who has owned one of the models will tell you.
I think Cabela's offers something similar...but I doubt Ford ever will again. The anti-gunners would jump all over Ford if they did.
In 1967, Ford offered, as an option, an auxillary tank on the left side.
In 1969, Ford offered, as an option a behind the seat gun safe or tool box.
When the tool box or gun safe was installed at the factory, the underbed gas tank was used, the in-cab tank was eliminated.
Both the items are obsolete...there may be some around, but I couldn't find any.
ND,
Thanks for looking! You suggested Cabela's too. That's prolly a good place to look. As luck would have it, I just got their new fall catalog at home a few days ago. I'll take a look and let you guys know if I find anything!

Well, skunked again! The only thing in the Cabela's catalog had that even resembled that was a plastic "tote" kind of thing that went behind the seat--it showed a gun in it in the pic, but it doesn't even have a lid.
In the Bronco Graveyard catalog there's a lock box they offer for behind the seat, but it says it's only 33 and some odd inches long. Not long enough for shot guns and such.
I just liked the idea of being able to lock the guns up for added security. Plus, I've seen a lot of nice guns with spots rubbed in the blueing from riding in the old "hook" style gun racks too long. I guess I'll stick with my cases!
