I got an idea fer ya get a old in cab tank and cut it along the seam where the factory put it together. Then make a cover that fits the tank shape put a couple of hinges and a couple of the small pad lock things on it and there ya go.
You might look up a couple company's, Homak and Stack-on, they make or made a lot of so called lock boxes, usually heavy gauge sheet metal. As far as gun racks in your back window, ive been told that here in Ca. they are perfectly legal,BUT,L.E. has the right to pull you over to determine whether or not they are loaded, and presumably actions should be open! A company called Pelican makes great heavy duty waterproof cases, what about finding a way to make some sort of lock for the seat back folding mechanism? if you cant fold the seat forward, you probably cant see or get at anything stored back there....just a thought!

that's a good idea, BUT if you get pulled over and the cop wants to search your vehicle and he/she can't get behind the seat they're gonna wonder what you're hiding behind there.
Exactly,in a locked case behind the seat meets Ca.'s standards for transporting an unloaded firearm, and as your likely aware Ca. has some of the most anti-gun laws around....I would also think that most officers would appreciate the fact that by locking the seat back, you have provided a second level of security, you probably cant access it while driving, etc. If you were not allowed to have locked storage within a vehicle, wouldnt auto manufacturers be required to make car trunks capable of being opened without a key, from the outside? besides,in many cases when you get pulled over by law enforcement, you are under no obligation to allow a vehicle search, often LE personnel dont even ask to search a vehicle for something as simple as speeding, for instance!
I'll have to look at my seat. Maybe there's a place on or around the latch at the end of the bench that you could drill and just put a pad lock through! I know that's hillbilly deluxe, but it would work for what you guys are talking about.
I was looking through the '79 literature that the Brochure Kid posted and ran across the in-cab gun safe. Wow--that would be cool to have! Right now I carry my rifles/shotguns in scabards and just sit them behind the seat.
Anybody know if you can still get something like this? Here's the link.
