I TRIED to get her to drive it, but she refused (she who MUST be obeyed)! She says its too big. In the mean time, she tools around in her GMC Envoy/XL that's about the size of s school bus without a worry...go figure...I have no doubt, though, that if she were "stranded" home without her vehicle, she'd drive it without a second thought. My wife is an excellent driver, especially in the foulest snow and ice. Let her? Encourage her!
My wife said if I can stand this for two years, I can quit working and we'll live off of her income. We'll have all of the bills, car/truck payments and the mortgage paid off.
That, my friend, is tempting.
I tried it, went 4 months and couldn't take not working. We paid off everything (Minus 40k on the house to continue credit).
One last tip. Find a REAL good tax accountant. You'll need one that knows about overseas income or you'll pay a ton in.
i let my girlfriend drive my truck off the lot lol, outta the 12 000 kms ive dun since i got it 2 months ago she's driven about 4000 of 'em... it kinda turns me on seeein her drivin a truck hahaha
Be safe STU, you have been a great on line friend and your comments and wisdom will be missed by many of us. Try to stay in touch post when you can. Good luck, Rich
I thought about the same thing when we decided that I would start driving her car to save $$ on fuel. My wife is a more cautious driver than I am, so I don't' sweat it.
Oh yea, have fun in Columbus GA. Get used to the "army way" they treat you like a grunt but it's quite funny seeing people march that have been out for 10+ years. They tend to forget alot of facing movements.
I ended up at Forward Operating Base Fenty, Jalalabad Afghanistan. Sleeping in tents, eating dust, food is OK, showers are way too hot, weather is way too hot but starting to cool off some. Working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day. Getting internet access is hell around here, especially on a PC that I can use on a forum.
The place looks like Death Valley.......feels like Death Valley also.
When I went for the '97 250HD to the '06 350 SD my wife decided that the new truck wsa "too big" for her to comfortably drive. She'll drive it if she has to, but not by choice. I started to argue with her, telling her it really isn't any bigger than the 250 (shorter turning radius for one thing), but decided I'd just let it be...
Another friend (female also) was helping me haul hay bales - round bales so we were hauling with the tailgate strapped up at about a 45 degree angle) and she put the first dent in the truck by backing into a tree. Kind of kicked myself in the butt for that, but it's hard to criticize free help! arrggg...
Thats GOOD to hear. Stay safe, and thank you for your service! And to add to the topic, my wifes Ex was just in the dealers' shop for a week, and she drove her dads 2wd reg cab Chebby as she was afraid to drive my truck. Maybe it was better that way, since she also knows what my truck means to me. Not that I would STAY mad or anything like that if something happened to it...
