Keith Craft does some good work. If you're serious ablut dropping that kind of coin for an engine you should call Joe Sherman Racing Engines too. Can't go wrong either way.
How small of a pickup? You'll have trouble keeping that thing hooked up even in a full-sized truck...
It should break stock axles, differentials and transmissions at an alarming rate!
I have a 9 inch rear end from a 85 pickup which I beleive is a 31 spline and I would of course beef up the c4 trans I have, you think that would work for a cruiser....no racing just street use...yeah sure a burn out every now and then but not all the time
The problem with a pickup is there is no weight on the rear axle, even a warmed over 351 will be spinning the tires all over he place all the time. My reg cab 5.0 truck was worse than my current ext cab truck for this, it was hard to drive around town if the roads were wet, took no effort at all to slide the rear end out from a stop.. and that truck had a stock 5.0 in it.
I was just looking at my options considering what it would cost to rebuild a 302 I have and put some aluminum heads, intake, 4barrel...you know all the good stuff aiming towards 350-400hp and with labor from the local machine shop it seemed like it was still gonna run me around $5000 and the torque wouldnt be the best thing for a truck cause the power wouldnt come till like 3000 rpm so I was just thinkin hmmmm gas and mpg wouldnt be that great with that and maybe something like this (408) would work better....more torque down low and gas be about the same
