This might help. I thought I had a better picture.
From left to right 1.starter button. 2.Light switch 3.Wiper switch 4. Hole plug(on mine maybe throttle) 5. Choke. 6. Ignition switch. 7. Hole plug ( on mine, Cigar lighter?)
This may help as well. It's the instrument panel page for F-100s out of the LMC Truck catalogue, Page 31. I'm not sure how good the picture will be here, but you can go to the link for LMC Truck, choose the 48-56 Ford Catalogue and look on page 31. My link should take you right to it.

hey merten,
What's that round thing in the middle. It looks like a "Dr. Who option", an intergalactic communicator or something??? Or maybe a radio...
I'll be anxious to get Martins response, but I noticed that too. If I'm not mistaken, that's a stock (what they used to call) MacArthur radio! I've only seen a few of them (if that's what it is) and they are selling for some "Major League" bucks in working condition!

Later Man...
That has been described by someone else here as looking like a small wall safe. It is actually the stock Ford radio, made by Motorola. It is a 3 piece unit. The part you see in the dash.
This part is bolted to the firewall under the dash on drivers side.
And the speaker, mounted above rear view mirror.
I bet you can really kick out some tunes on that! What a great look! It would be interesting to change over the guts of the electronics to modern stuff, probably about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Can you still buy tubes?

Every year I go to the Dayton Hamvention which is a gathering of Ham Radio people. They have a monster outside flea market and there re always guys there with loads of tubes and also all kinds of old car and truck radios. It would probably be a good idea to buy them up if I knew what was worth something and what was made for what vehicle. The big problem with those old tube type radios is that they could suck a battery down in a hurry.
