Havent heard of the chevy rear ends, but i havent really cared either. As far as knew chevy made a decent truck, but had a lighter front end.

I am with you on the Dodge trannies but, after there first melt down they got an aftermarket tranny, but they still couldn't make them last for more than about 300,000kms.

I know this is third party kind of stuff but, I read once that the chevy diesel was only designed to last about 400,000 miles.

The chevy 350 was really a damn good engine, one of the best out there of any brand.

As for chevy diesels, I know the 6.2 was ok for light light duty applications, and have heard some guys have good luck with the newer duramax ones.

Its funny though, I have heard alot of guys state that the chevy is like a car with a truck body.

There are a few 300+ km dmax trucks in our area > most have exhibited similar ball joint life as the superduty - 120 TO 160 kms and they will be worn out

I had a 2000 Chevy with a lift and 305 tires with a programmer, exhaust, and k&n filter. I sold it to my brother and he traded it at 200 kms - ball joints were done once. The tire shop I deal at said Dmax and SD - same longevity ---> Dodge has no longevity for front ends!

I see your point but I hope you see mine - I call a spade a spade and have no brand preferences and if I cant express my views without ridicule I will leave. Facts are facts and I state them the way I see them. If someone cant take an honest, well founded criticism of something they own I pity them!
Sherm, here is a point to ponder. If the 6.0 was not as problematic as I say, why did Ford sue Navistar over excessive warranty costs and they break off a long standing engine supply relationship?
There are lots of problems with all years of 6.0 engines - its just showing up with more miles on the newer ones now ( see how many more HPOP failures there are on '05 and up trucks than pre '05). There are some fleet owned ones getting head gaskets done so there goes the tuner theory. I will state that any mods will increase the odds of failure but a weak design will exhibit failure on some without mods.
I had Ford basically walk away from my truck without fixing it because it was borderline. After seeing the company and how they cared for their custoimers I had no choice but to install a tuner, wreck it, and laugh while they footed the warranty bill that they should have taken care of in the first place!
Do I feel bad about doing it? Here is my final answer - I feel as bad as they did for abandoning me!
Do I condone the installation of tuners and then expecting the company to pay? Absolutely and positively not. Somewhere way way back in the archives there will be some threads about me pondering a tuner purchase and taking a calculated risk as so many of my friends did on their 7.3 engines. Install a tuner and then deal with the ramifications yourself. I analyzed this and posted that I didnt think the engine was strong enough to live stock let alone programmed and I refrained from programming it. Once Ford had annoyed me enough with wasting my time with bandaid solutions to try to mask the real problem, I took matters into my own hands then did the necessary upgrades to my engine so it would live with the extra power. The one bandaid solutioin I tell people about is how they lowered the level in the coolant bottle to try to prevent it from puking when excessive cylinder pressure exitted the combustion chamber through the multilayered head gaskets because the TTY headbolts were too weak to hold sufficient clamping force.

I went with a valve body upgrade....not alot of pressure increase just new sizes pistons, and drilling......been in since new no leaks or problems. keeps the tc hooked longer for less heat too. shifts firmly which is what I was looking to do.
