Ford ho 302s have forged and all of the Yale and Hyster fork trucks come with forged. Also new Zo6 vets with titaium rods. They are alot of forged pistons used i wander why the 7.3 dont .
The piston's in our engines are a bit larger then the ones in those engines and would put a lot more stress on the connecting rods. I'd also guess that the heavier weight would mean slower revving and a lower max RPM.
That could be true but a few post back they where saying using steel pistons are a alum skirt with a steel top like in some of the CAT motors. You are only talking like less than a 100 grams from forged to cast . in a 400 cubic inch engine. 4.125 bore just add this what is our bore .
The bore is 4.11 inch and stroke is 4.18 inch. Don't forget that the compression ratio is also more then two times higher then a gasser. It would be neat if someone came out with a two piece steel and aluminum pistion. Only worry would be the rods holding up to the added stress.

And our rods are a lot bigger, too, and can take the additional weight. No sweat!.
