Hey guys I just installed a tailgate assist on my F150. I never seen these before until a friend showed me his on his F350. Very nice and good if you have a wife or kids that need to use the tailgate. I searched around and I think there is onyl one manufacturer - Dee Zee - due to patents. Anyway cool addition to the truck and prevents the tailgate from potentially dangerously falling too fast on a wheelbarrow, wall, sons head etc.

I have no interest in Dee Zee just thought it was a great idea - surprised that Ford didnt install these from the factory.

 

check the 2004 to 2008 forums, they do install them from the factory!
