yeah its great......ive been stopping what i have been doing the last 4 nights at around 10pm just to turn my attention for the couple of minutes to what hes trying to achieve.
To see that young man move thru the water is like watching art in motion. I've seen lots of swimming, all 3 of my kids swim competively year round, and it is incredible how good he is. There is just no wasted movement. All energy is focused on moving him toward the next wall. i certainly hope he can pull of the 8 golds.

If someone brings up doping allegations, they're going to have a lot of precedent to disprove.
As for not seeing another athlete like him in our lifetimes....well, I used to believe that. I was young, but I remember Mark Spitz kicking everyone's butt in the Munich Olympics in 1972. I remember my dad saying there would never be another swimmer like him. Well, dad's still alive, and I told him last night that he was full of fertilizer. So, who knows what the future may bring. They'll probably legalize genetic engineering, allow for the addition of gills and flippers, and some mutant will win 23 gold medals because not only did he kick butt in the swimming competition, but he also smoked everybody in the rowing events because he was able to qualify by taping an oar to his back. This world will never cease to amaze, so enjoy the show.
Oh, and just to give some retort to Herman's comments...I'm not Canadian, but I still cheer for them to do well. Granted, I'd prefer for the Americans to do better if they're in the same race, but if they're not, I watch to see if the Canadians can do well. Maybe I need to read some Canadian policy to find out if I've been breaking the rules in their country by cheering for some of their athletes.
