Cool Paint issues

Ok need to vent and get some advice before I lose it. I have a 2006 White F250 with 29000 miles on it. A month after I bought the truck I started to notice some little rust dots in the paint on the sides of the truck. At the same time all my emblems lost there black paint and the tow hooks rusted. So I took it back and they installed new emblems and tow hooks. The body shop said I had rail dust in the paint from shipping and they clay bar'ed it. The body shop manager told me they got it all out. About a year later it happened again, all these little rust dots appeared. So I took it back down and they clay bar'ed it again. Talked with the manager again he said that they missed a little the first time. To this point I was very calm and ecepting. Well last week I noticed all the rust dots comming back. I made an apointment, met with the body shop manager again. They clay bar'ed the truck once again. When I went down to pick up the truck, the lady at the desk handed me my keys and said "have a nice day, your tuck is parked outside." I asked her if there was any paper work. She said no. I asked to see the manager once again. He told me that if he fill out paper I would get charge because the paint warrenty is only 2 years. So I asked him to look up the past history for body work. It showed nothing. They never wrote up any of the three visits to the body shop for this Rail dust problem. I askedd the manager if this rust problem would come back again, what would heppen. He told me I would have to pay for them to do the clay bar again.

Can anyone help me with what I sould do next. I have stayed calm thus far, but am close to losing it. I know that the rust is going to come back. I know it it.

I guess i never heard of a 2 warranty on paint. figured 3 year bumper to bumper would include paint. Are you driving or around any place you could pick up metal dust?

my truck is a 05 and i have 2 actual rust spots on the truck. Total BS for a truck 3 years old.

Not true. You do have a corrosion warranty, but it's only for rust through. It won't help with cosmetic paint issues, and that's what this is. Sucks for the OP, but forget this 100k thing. It just ain't so.

I would contact ford RIGHT NOW get in touch w/ customer service rep.

Don't wait until the guys at the dealer "forget" your visits,or quit or whatever.

Get ford involved now !!

You will need the body shop people to explain to the rep. what they did.

Sounds like ford would take care of it on a 2 yr. old truck w/ 3 prior visits.

Don't wait though.

by the way .....that sucks.

Well.. here's the MY2006 warranty info on that issue...

Corrosion Coverage
Under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Corrosion Coverage begins at the warranty start date and covers body sheet metal panels against corrosion due to a defect in factory-supplied materials or workmanship. Corrosion coverage (which lasts for 5 years, regardless of miles driven) only applies if the corrosion causes perforation (holes) in body sheet metal panels.

If corrosion does not cause perforation (holes), and is not the result of usage and/or environmental conditions, paint damage is covered under the terms of the Bumper to Bumper Warranty (3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first).

For damage caused by airborne material (environmental fallout) - where there is no factory-related defect involved and therefore no warranty - our policy is to cover paint damage due to airborne material for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

I have a white 04 and this has been an ongoing problem for me also, I have clay bar'ed and waxed and it never lasts. I have a problem believing that the metal keeps coming up out of the paint, it seems more likely that the paint absorbs metal particles over the course of time from other cars brakes and such. I wonder if other car makes suffer from this same problem?

Here is a TSB on the issue. Not sure why, but it has never been updated to cover any vehicles past 2005...

BODY - PAINT - IRON PARTICLE REMOVAL - INDUSTRIAL FALLOUT - ACID RAIN NEUTRALIZATION
