Hello all this is my first post . I have just bought a 2000 f250 and i love it .This truck is pretty much stock i did go get a k&n air filter for the stock air box . I do have some questions 1. when you turn the key to the on pos how long do the golw plugs stay on and my truck dose to seem to be able to turn the key backwards to the accesory pos to run just the radio when parked is this normal ? The 2nd. is there a programer for just gas mileage the truck already has lots of power and i dont want to break any thing. Thank you for any help this a very nice site
Congrats and Welcome.
Take the K&N drop in filter back and go to napa and get a 46637 filter.i dont have the link for the install handy, but will get it for you. The K&N drop in is not the best choice for a PSD, and mainly its a design fault of the stock box, it will not seal correctly and let dust through to sandblast your turbo.
Glow plugs stay on for variing amounts of time based on outside temp, oil temp, and ambient air temp. anywhere form 0- 180 seconds. the idiot light on the dash does not indicate when the GPs turn off, but we do have a LED mod that you can so if you really want to see how long they stay on. cost is about $5 to $10.
the acc position(turned backwards) of the key switch is normal.
Hey welcome to the site everyone here is real helpful. Dont be afraid to ask for help, lots of people that know a lot about these trucks. I have a 2000 also and i can turn my key back for just the radio
So is it ok to trun the key just to the on pos to run just the radio for a extentd amout of time like at the drive in movie or will this hurt something like glow plugs of the life of the glow plugs.
No it is just the auxillary. It will drain the battery obviousley but if your batteries are in good shape you should be fine at the drive in. It only affects the glow plugs if twisted forward. where at in utah are you
I live in clinton ut about 30 miles north of salt lake . I have tryed several times to turn the key backwards even the rocking the steering wheel back and forth or turnig the key all the way forward and then back . any ideas? thanks for the help
Thats cool i am in Hooper.I have no ideas i just went out and checked mine to make sure i was right and mine just twists back. does your key not even turn back or does the radio just not come on?

I got the K&N "filtercharger", and it didnt seal. as soon as I noticed, I phoned K&N and they sent me an updated product, and it seems to seal perfect, but i check it once in a while to make sure.
