fuel filters
how many fuel filters are there on the 7.3 ltr? I'm not familar with this motor only the 6.0. any info would help. and do you have to wet prime it or does it self prime like the 6.0

I'd also like to add that Wix now has a new filter out that comes with a (relatively) flat gasket, not the traditional beveled gasket. If you get a filter with a flat gasket you need to apply a film of motor oil to the gasket before the install. If you have the beveled gasket a coat of diesel will work fine.

Just pay attention to the direction of the bevel on the gasket when installing. Do not install it upside down.

On a related note - there is always a good supply of nicely priced filters like this on eBay if you are so inclinded. Given that it's not usually an emergency purchase part I usually find a seller with lots of 100% feedback for auto parts and buy a few at a time. The Ford dealer markup on these is huge!

RACOR - FUEL FILTER ('99-'03 FORD 7.3L)-Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage These filters are great, and at the best price around that I've found. You will need your own lid, as seen in the picture it's not attached like some of the ones are. Not sure why some are.....and some aren't, but definitely SAVE your lid if you go to the attached style!
