We recently purchased a '99 EB Expedition. I am not too familiar with the suspension leveler, as we have a '98 EB and it does not have this feature. Is there a way to turn this off so that the vehicle stays in its highest position?
Thanks. Will the vehicle stay at its highest level if this switch is turned off? The reason I ask is that I get kind of tired of hearing the compressor kick in to raise it every time we start up the vehicle and drive.
Nope, turning off the switch will cause all pressure to release. It's designed this way to allow work to be done on the suspension. No one wants to have their hand in the wrong spot when pressure is released and the truck lowers down.
I disagree. When the susp switch is turned off, it disables the module AND solenoids. In other words, the solenoids won't have power to open....therefore it can't make any adjustments and unless theres a leak, it won't go down.
One thing you'll need to remember is that even if the air springs don't have a leak, the system will need to be pumped up in 3 weeks or so....and more in cold weather.
If the compressor running allot makes you nervous, you could turn the switch off on this model with little to no risk. ( the risk would be some internal parts corroding in place)
I believe Ford revised the mounting for the pump to reduce the noise transmitted through the frame. Might be worth looking into if your pump has an original mount. Mine has been replaced and all I hear now is a low humming.
