I work for an EMS service that will put a new ambulance in service in the next few days that is a Chevy with the dmax. Their first. Don't know how I feel about it. Haven't driven it yet. We'll see. All the others in our area are Ford deisels.
thats true laredo. i asked my dealer about that and they said they're pretty lenient unless its fully clear that the modifications were the cause of the problem. they said they'll give you 15 minutes to remove the tuner and return the truck to stock before they void the warranty on an issue.
one way to look at it is... honoring warranty doesn't cost the dealer anything... turning down a warranty claim and pissing off a customer might cost them a 30-60g sale in a couple of years.
I think there has to be a line that a guy cant cross either.
like for instance, tuners on a 6 liter. They are known to cause some issues, yet some people still throw a tuner in a brand new truck. IMO that guy shouldnt get warranty, he took his chance and lost!
Warranty should be for fixing legit problems on the truck as it left the dealer.
thats true prep... i don't see the point in screwing the automakers-they have enough trouble as it is. i may do exhaust and tuner down the road, but i will ask the dealer for their advice on what is best to get and still be within the guidelines.
Ya know sherm, when it comes to tuners, i personally would check out what the going one is on fte.
I havent checked into 6 liters, or 5.4 liter tuners, so I dont know what the good ones are, but for my truck, if you dont get a dp tuner, you dont really have a tuner.
Theres guys that switch everyday and say they notive a huge difference.
I also think its a very smart idea to run it past your dealership with whatever you come up with.
I think Diablosport Predator tuners are nice for the 5.4's. That's what I'm going to check into since they won't be putting the 6.2 Boss motor in my next (new) truck in a couple years. The 5.4 is good stock but who doesnt want a little more!
I agree with you preppy like the saying says you gotta pay to play and if you wanna play you pay and if something breaks down cause of that play toy like a programmer or a tuner chip of some sort too bad no warranty
but on the other hand lots of people are smart they wait till warranty is el finito
i researched before my purchase too...every time. i don't have time to "get my hands dirty", neither do i have time for my truck to be in a shop... thats why i buy Ford(c'mon, someone hit me for my loyalty again), and now have warranty.
Thats great ya did research on it man. I would hate to hear you went and bought one of fords "lesser" products Not that their trucks are though.
The whole time spent in the shop thing is another reason I had to go with my truck. I would have lost money, and maybe my job, IF I couldnt make it to work one time, because my truck broke down.
