The truck has no steering wheel audio controls, so of course they don't work correctly, but I can't get the code to disappear.
My best idea, is to place 1,110 ohms of resistance between the two wires that go to the Steering Wheel Controls so the radio sees the correct voltage for "no switches pressed".
...Since this is just an open circuit right now.
I'm guessing this came with your upgraded radio, so you may be correct about placing the resistance between the extra wires to simulate a switch. Unless of course you need an excuse to upgrade steering wheel.
Did you get a 3.55 or 3.73 rear end? What kind of mileage are you seeing empty & towing?
Unloaded:
12-14 MPG in town
20+ MPG going 55
~18 MPG going 65 (2,000 RPM)
~17 MPG going 70
Loaded (towing 9,000 lbs):
10 HWY
7-8 City
I don't know if I really want to go about upgrading the steering wheel yet...
first off I don't even know if I can with the equipment I have... I don't have a tilt wheel... which means no cruise control (it's a package) and have yet to see an '08 with steering wheel controls that doesn't have tilt/cruise. I don't have the money, tools or time to rip out the whole column and put in a tilt column. The "none pressed" resistance seems to be the easiest option if it works.
It's a code that comes on during the power up test. I cannot clear it, it just comes back because it doesn't get a voltage in the correct range from the column.
Then again, it really doesn't do anything except give me a "Self Fail" response from the ACM self test... The ACM has complete functionality.
