Hey guys! I rebuilt my 400 a couple of weeks ago and now I have a problem. The engine I used for a core was pure boat anchor, bad block, bad crank, cracked heads, etc. Anyway the machine shop had a core block and I bought some 2V Cleveland heads and TMI pistons and we got 'er done. The problem is when I went to put the thing together I don't have an oil slinger. The one that was on the old engine apparently got tossed with the crank and the core didn't have one on it. The shop owner says most of the 400 engines he sees don't have one. I don't want to buy a whole engine to get one and nobody carries the part anymore. What do you guys think?
Thanks
I have one on a core engine, i would have to remove it. or it off to the recycle yard. I posted a site for slingers then saw it was a Mopar site so I removed it. Sorry
Actually, the cover they list is used. The other problem is they don't seem interested in delivering what they sell. I bought the slinger from them a while back, figuring that a used slinger would be fine. I paid on their website by credit card and I still haven't seen anything from them. The guy that runs this outfit has a very bad reputation according to what I have heard on this forum. Appreciate your help though

Hi Compressor guy, on the 400 that you have with the tim pistons you are using stcok open chamber heads right? you have a dcr of 8.15:1, what octane are you using? had any trouble with pinging? just for reference as i have my built around there... thanx

You need to call your credit card company and have the charges deleted.
If enough people do this, his credit card rights will be revoked.

Actually, I haven't run it yet. It is real pretty sitting on the engine stand, but I am laid up with a bad shoulder at the moment. Hoping to have it going in a week or two. I expect to have to run premium, but I know of one other guy with the same build that is running 87 octane with no apparent problem. Only difference is the heads. He has the stock 400 heads and I have the 2V Cleveland heads. I think that makes about a .2 difference in the CR.
I'll let you know how it goes as soon as it rumbles to life.
