08 mirrors
I was thinking about getting the 08 SD mirrors with heat, turn sig and power extend and fold. But what i was wondering, is can any 08 mirrors fit my ex or do i have to get the retrofit kit?

those are the the 08 mirrors. there is nothing special about the "retrofit kit" unless he already broke off the plastic locating tab that must be removed to it to older vehicles. dfuser does give out a discount to ford-trucks members if i remember from when i ordered a headlight harness. i put them on my super duty and a bunch of people have put them on X's too and they look good imo.
the wiring is what you have to change a bit (different wiring harness colors) especially if you want power extend/fold since you need to put in two new switches.

with Dfuser's kit ask about the reverse left/right mirror operation problem..about a year ago i mounted a set of 08's on a MY 2000 SD and went nuts trying to get the mirrors to work right..up and down were fine, but left and right were backwards...since then, guys have figured out a solution using a couple of relays in the doors to make them work correctly..
the mirrors bolt right up..it's getting the wiring done that takes the time..

I had no problem cutting the plug off my old TT mirrors and using them on my 08 mirrors. All the wires matched by color perfectly. Though I do have the left/ right issue. It really isn't a big deal.
I mean, really? How many times does a person actually move their mirrors about?
The fix for it is in the SD forum. Not heard of the relay fix. It comes down to switching wires INSIDE the mirror.
www.ftepartsguy.com has them cheaper than anywhere I've seen. But that isn't the power extend/fold.
Those are just too much hassle (new wiring) and too friggin much money for what you get. When I was looking they were 3X as much as the manual extend/fold.
ON EDIT: GAD!! I just clicked on dfuser's link. Man...that's a lot of coin. Even ftepartsguy.com is a lot more than I remember! (still $100 cheaper though). I thought that when I paid $350 for mine I had paid too much. Guess I can sell them now and make a profit!

its just a little piece of plastic that goes in a hole on the 08's. its easy to break off. if you dont, you cant get the mirror to sit flush. my mirrors do the reverse left/right too but i dont think its that big of a deal. the prices did go up too after ford maybe realized that everyone was retrofitting them.

Thanks for the responses guys. The reason why i ask these questions is because i own a lawn company and cut for a body shop and he wants to get me the 08 heat, turn sig and power fold/extend tow mirrors for free. He is going to be going through his parts guy and he isnt going to get the retrofit kit from defuser. He is going through his parts guy because he gets 40% off.

The guy i cut for gets 40 percent off, but i still get them for free lol
