If I only have to drive in four days a week, then it's $100 - $200

If I have to drive in five days a week, then it's more,,,

Have paid as much as $300.00 per week, depending on fuel prices,,,

I will be over $100 per week when I move into my new house in the burbs....I'm looking at a VW Passat with a 2.0L engine right now to so I hope to cut that in half. I think the $1100 investment will pay itself off very quickly.

Why don't they just take the blood right out of your arm?

I live in a very expensive part of the country.

I've always found my job as a lead carpenter rewarding. I can see a tangible accomplishment at the end of every day.
But not having any one place to call "work" and with the current construction market causing me to range farther afield for that work, my gas budget is often some peoples salary.

Though I drive a 21y.o. gas guzzling truck I'm thankful every day that it's mine free and clear. I couldn't make it if I had another payment every month.

At the height of the gas "spike" I had one fillup that was $180! (running on fumes, I used my can of lawnmower gas to get to work on payday)
I usually need to fill up 2 1/2- 3 times a week...
I'm keeping that receipt for posterity.
Who knows, some day I may look back on it, chuckle and think 'Those were the good old days'

Still waiting for regular to get down below $4.30 average around here. But even at that we in the U.S. have some of the least expensive petroleum in the world.

Energy costs what they are maybe the Amish aren't so "backwards" after all, eh?

My wife is paying $100 + to get to work and back every week when it used to be Like $40 but soon she will be closer to home and it won't be that bad at least she doesn't have to drive my Bronco or truck or it would be more then double of that.

I just bought a new Mazda B2300. Automatic transmission and a/c. I drive a lot and fill up about twice a week at about $70-75 a shot.

I see them Mennonites \ Amish all the time, I live in Oxford County(dairy capital) huge Mennonite \ Amish communities around these parts, most are hardline old schoolers.

I have pumped a lot of concrete with them boys. hard working folk I'll say that, although myself I would never live that life style by choice, but seems they do have the right idea for these days, complete disassociation from the public utility grids with little reliance if any on fuel....

Perhaps the past will become the future

I go through 2.5 to 3 tanks of fuel per week, depending on where the jobs are at.

But the increased cost just gets passed down to the customer, and then they pass down the cost to their customer, and so on.

I got lucky...last time I moved, it was closer to work...only 6 miles

I can stretch a tank of gas to a little over 2 weeks if I restrict my weekend travels...

I havent been filling the tank lately...why haul around the extra fuel

I'm 6 miles from work as well. When fuel hit $3 per gallon my wife and I decided to move closer to our jobs and it really paid off.

Hard to say how much I spend on fuel a week, since I pay for the gas for 3 company vehicles plus the wife's car. We don't have any jobs that are closer than 40-50 miles from home/shop. Heck, it's 6 miles to the nearest highway that goes anywhere from here. My van alone?..probably $150- 200/ week. You've got me curious now, Wolfie. I'll have to ask the wife/bookkeeper just how much it is, if she's not too tired from her 9/5. All I do is put the money in the bank, and the bills get paid. It's magic, I tell ya! Best guess?...$501-600/week.

Pete

BTW- Filled up last night- $3.42/gal. here.

I burn about $200 worth of gas a week in my company van. I'm sure glad I got called back to my old job with the van & gas card. I was using more than $200 a week in my F250 when I was doing remodeling earlier this yr. I had to figure fuel into the bid on every job. I had decided to sell the F250 & get a gasser. I will keep the F250 now since I'll only put about 6k a yr on it & I really like the truck. Its great to have a company truck with todays fuel cost plus I don't have to take my F250 on construction sites. My last truck was hit twice by illegal immigrants at the job site. One hit my truck with a bobcat & left the job site without telling my he hit my truck. The other one backed into my truck & drove off before I knew my truck was hit. I had to pay for both repairs since you can't track down illegals & if you do you can bet they don't have ins.

And the amount of Do-it-yourselfers goes up. For some of the things I've done on my house would have cost me an arm and a leg if I didn't do it. EVERYTHING is going up. And you can't blame people for charging for their services either.

Luckily, I don't spend over $100 per week
