I didn't know there could be a pump in the tank. I reckon anything with an electrical current in a fuel tank would not be good.
Yes, most gas engines these days have the pump located in the tank at the end of the fuel pickup.

The pump that I used for the job is manufactured for use externally on a gas engine VW Rabbit.
But the design of all rotary type pumps is the draw fuel through themselves.
It doesn't matter if they are submerged or not, the inside of the pump is full of fuel.

Perhaps. However, if you do decide to go further, you will have the expense and hassle of installing the CCK and removing it. I'd rather do it all at once and not have to worry about it in the future. I have found it to be cheaper that way in the long run.
